Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program in Biopreservation Technologies

Funded by the National Science Foundation, The Advanced Technologies for Preservation of Biological Systems (ATP-Bio) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program, is a collaborative program between Texas A&M and the University of Minnesota (UMN), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), University of California-Berkeley (UCB), University of California-Riverside (UCR),  where students embark on a transformative 10-week journey at renowned institutions

In this immersive experience, REU students collaborate on cutting-edge ATP-Bio research projects under the guidance of dedicated faculty members and mentorship from graduate students or postdoctoral researchers.

Throughout the program, students delve into diverse areas such as technical literature analysis, computer-aided design, mathematical modeling, fabrication. Each student takes on an individual project with specific responsibilities and milestones. At the culmination of the program, students are accountable for delivering final reports, creating posters, and delivering presentations showcasing their research accomplishments.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

The program aims to develop highly skilled professionals in the field of cryopreservation and biological system preservation. Core skills include exposure to emerging technologies, collaboration, safety, ethics, communication, and innovation.
